What Learning Looks Like at Silverspin
Let's be honest... nobody gets excited by a folder full of dusty PowerPoint slides called "Mandatory Training v7 FINAL_FINAL.pptx."
Learning should be engaging, practical, and, dare we say it, something you actually want to come back to.
That's exactly the thinking behind the Silverspin Training Hub - our brand-new home for learning, built to help our people develop new skills, challenge themselves, and keep growing alongside the business.
We caught up with Georgios, our Head of Learning & Development, to find out what inspired the Hub, why it's different, and why curiosity is becoming one of our biggest competitive advantages.
"Our people were already asking for it."
For Georgios, the idea wasn't born in a boardroom .. it came from listening.
"Since joining Silverspin, I quickly realised that people genuinely wanted to learn. They weren't waiting to be told to attend training .. they were actively looking for opportunities to develop themselves."
When you combine that appetite for learning with one of the fastest-moving industries out there, the answer became pretty obvious.
"The occasional training session just wasn't going to cut it. We needed a dedicated place where people could continuously learn, whether that's through self-paced courses, leadership programmes, or value-based workshops."
And so, the Training Hub was born. No ring binders. No death-by-PowerPoint. Just learning designed for how people actually work.
It's Not Just About Technical Skills
Of course, technical skills matter.
But being brilliant at Excel, SQL, negotiation, or stakeholder management is only part of the story.
"Technical skills tell you what to do," George explains. "Our values help people understand how we do it at Silverspin."
That's why learning throughout the Hub is built around our four values:
🎮 Own the Game✨ Keep It Simple💡 Stay Curious🤝 Win Together
Companies aren't built on knowledge alone; they're built on the behaviours that bring that knowledge to life.
The Best Learning Happens Together
One of the standout features of the Hub is our quarterly value-based workshops.
These sessions bring together colleagues from different departments, experiences, and backgrounds to tackle real-life scenarios, share perspectives, and challenge each other's thinking.
"Some of the best conversations happen when people approach the same problem from completely different angles," says George.
"Learning shouldn't always be one person talking while everyone else politely pretends they're not checking Teams."
Instead, these workshops are designed to be collaborative, practical, and full of discussion.
Learning That Grows With You
Whether you're looking to sharpen a specific skill or preparing for your next career move, the Hub has been built with flexibility in mind.
Employees can dip into standalone modules covering areas like Essential Business Skills and Management Skills, or follow longer learning pathways designed to support people moving into leadership roles.
And we're only getting started.
"We're now working with department heads to build technical learning pathways across the business, giving every team access to specialist development that's relevant to what they do every day."
Built by Silverspin, for Silverspin
Perhaps the biggest difference? The Training Hub wasn't bought off the shelf.
Every course has been shaped by our company-wide Training Needs Analysis, conversations with managers, feedback from employees, and our company values.
In other words, this isn't generic training with our logo stuck on the front.
It's learning built around the people who'll actually be using it.
Staying Curious Is Good Business
The industry doesn't stand still. Technology changes. Regulations evolve. New products launch. Customer expectations move faster than your Friday afternoon to-do list.
"If we want to keep growing, our people need the opportunity to keep growing too," Georgios says. "Continuous learning isn't something we tick off once a year. It's something we invest in every day."
The Training Hub is another step in that journey and one we're incredibly excited about. After all, one of our values is Stay Curious.
Now we've built a place to put it into practice.
