Growing with Silverspin ⭐
Every great story starts somewhere, and for Christine and Wilma, it all began in 2019 when they joined the company as interns. Back then, they were curious, ambitious, and ready to take on any challenge that came their way. Fast forward to today, and they’ve both grown into confident leaders who continue to shape the company in their own unique ways.
Let’s take a look at how they got here.
Wilma’s Story
Wilma’s Silverspin adventure kicked off seven years ago when she joined as an intern. Since then, she’s worked her way through a variety of roles, gaining hands-on experience across the Marketing department before becoming a team lead. Her journey has been all about growth, creativity, and learning how to bring people and projects together
“When I first joined, I shadowed senior members in the Content Team to learn our tone of voice and writing style across different brands,” Wilma says. “I wrote short content pieces, supported ongoing campaigns, and one of my first big projects was helping document how we worked and creating internal guides. It gave me a crash course in collaboration and consistency, and helped me understand the bigger picture of how marketing comes together.”
As her career progressed, Wilma moved through teams such as Content Writing & Production and Rewards & CRM, building a solid understanding of different marketing functions. These experiences taught her how to spot connections between teams and foster better communication.
“Getting to work with so many areas was invaluable,” she explains. “It helped me see how every part of marketing contributes to the overall brand and player experience. That perspective really shaped how I lead today.”
Transitioning into a leadership role was a major turning point.
“One of the biggest learning curves was shifting from executing daily tasks to thinking strategically and managing bigger projects,” she shares. “At first, it felt daunting, but I learned how to delegate, trust my team, and guide them toward shared goals.”
The iGaming world is fast, competitive, and constantly evolving, but that’s exactly what keeps Wilma motivated.
“It’s such a dynamic industry. No two days are the same, and there’s always a new challenge around the corner. Every change has pushed me to grow both professionally and personally.”
So what keeps her inspired after all these years?
“Definitely the people! We have such a diverse mix of colleagues from all over the world. I’ve learned so much from different cultures and perspectives, and that variety makes every project more exciting. It’s a really energising place to work.”
Christine’s Story
Christine joined Silverspin the same year as Wilma, starting as an Office and Admin Intern while wrapping up her degree in Psychology and Communications. Juggling coursework with office life wasn’t always easy, but she quickly discovered she loved being part of a busy, collaborative environment.
“I started in office admin, helping with day-to-day tasks, coordinating small events, and keeping things running smoothly,” Christine explains. “Eventually, I transitioned into event planning, which I absolutely loved because it brought people together. Then COVID hit, and suddenly events came to a standstill, so I had to rethink my direction.”
That pause led to a big turning point. Christine wanted to find a way to use her degree and her passion for people, and when a Talent role opened up, she decided to take a leap.
“I was honestly terrified at first,” she admits with a smile. “I was scared to even pick up the phone, let alone lead an interview. But I knew it was an opportunity to grow, and once I got started, I realised how rewarding it is to connect with people and help them find the right role.”
One of her first major projects as an intern was helping build an internal intranet - a project that unknowingly set her career path in motion.
“I loved working on the intranet because it was all about communication, creativity, and improving how people access information. That’s when I discovered my interest in internal communication and employer branding. It clicked for me that this was something I wanted to build a career around.”
Fast forward to today, and Christine has grown into a Partner role, leading her own team and driving Silverspin’s talent acquisition and employer branding strategy.
“When I first started managing by first direct report, I thought I had to have all the answers,” she says. “But I’ve learned that leadership isn’t about knowing everything. It’s about empowering your team, asking the right questions, and creating a space where people can grow.”
Her biggest challenge so far came this year, when she was tasked with building new foundations for the Talent and Employer Branding team.
“It was a huge project and definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone,” Christine says. “It meant diving into areas I’d never worked on before, from defining processes to leading cross-department collaborations. But it also helped me see how far I’ve come since my intern days.”
And when asked what she loves most about Silverspin, her answer comes easily.
“It’s the people and the constant opportunity to grow. Everyone supports each other, and you’re encouraged to explore new ideas. It’s a place where you can really shape your own journey.”
Looking Ahead
From their first days as interns to the leaders they are today, Christine and Wilma’s stories are filled with curiosity, courage, and creativity. They’ve both shown that growth doesn’t happen overnight - it’s built through learning, trying, and sometimes even stumbling along the way.
Their journeys showcase that Silverspin isn’t just a place to work. It’s a place to explore, to evolve, and to become more confident in who you are and what you can achieve.
